A report by First American CoreLogic states that the percentage of over-mortgaged homes in the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield area trumps the national average. According to the report, the 37.8% measure for the area in the 2nd quarter leads the national average for the period by 5.6%, amounting to a total of 241,722 homes with negative equity. As well, the agency reports that homes within 5 percentage points of being in negative equity accounted for 44.86% of all mortgages in the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield area in the period, or 287,123 mortgages. Statewide, the respective measures were 34.5% (389,805) and 41.7% (470,994).
