COMPANY PROFILE - Geoff Hauer

Director, Information Systems/Associate Appraiser

Geoff has been involved in real estate since 1998, after founding Housemeasurements.com, a business he still maintains, which specializes in measurement verification and floor plan rendering services for residential real estate brokers, homebuilders and developers in the Denver area.  Subsequently, he was a founder and director with Management Automation Group, a developer of real estate and property management wireless automation solutions and technology services.

Geoff joined James Real Estate Services, Inc. in 2001 as an Associate Appraiser and Director of Information Systems and retains that title in an outside consulting capacity.  As Director of Information Systems he oversees the JRES data network and systems, consults on IT related projects for the firm and provides strategic vision regarding the application of technology at JRES.

Ongoing and recent IT projects include development of a new web presence for JRES, implementation of the Argus/Snapwire Report Builder narrative report automation software and specification and implementation of a new Nortel BCM VOIP phone system.  Geoff also consulted on technology application and development of the billjames4rtd.com website for Bill James' successful 2008 campaign for the Regional Transportation District Board of Directors, District A.

As an Associate Appraiser with JRES, Geoff specializes in valuation and consulting in mountain resort areas such as Steamboat, Aspen and Vail, rural communities and the Colorado front range. He has performed appraisals and consulting assignments on a number of special purpose and narrow market properties, under unique circumstances. These have included transit oriented development, hospitals, assisted living facilities, long term acute care facilities (LTAC), biotech facilities and laboratories, mobile home parks, recreational vehicle parks, man camps, automotive sales and service centers, car washes, convenience stores, gas stations, fast food restaurants, explosive manufacturing facilities, reclaimed mines, forest fire damaged lands, golf course communities, trophy ranches, Colorado State Land Board lands, historically designated buildings, LEED certified buildings, self storage facilities and residential subdivisions.

Many of these engagements required close consultation with project developers and local real estate owners and professionals, extensive feasibility analysis of alternative uses, intense due diligence in remote locations and eminent domain analysis and consulting. As the commercial real estate market has transitioned during the current economic downturn, Geoff has conducted extensive due diligence into commercial real estate trends in lease rates, occupancy, asset prices and changing capitalization rates as well as distressed commercial property, loan workouts and receiverships.

Geoff earned a Masters Degree in Information Technology from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business in early 2002, is a Certified General Appraiser in Colorado and is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Colorado.  He is an associate member of the Appraisal Institute, a member of the Denver Metropolitan Commercial Association of Realtors (DMCAR) and the Colorado Association of Realtors (CAR).
